Ben Stokes slams The Sun newspaper over story about family tragedy

England cricket hero Ben Stokes has branded The Sun newspaper”immoral and heartless” after they published a story in a family tragedy 31 years ago.
The all-rounder, who was crucial to England published a statement after the article featured from the Temple on Tuesday to the narrative on Twitter.
He wrote:”Now The Sun has found fit to publish extremely painful, sensitive and personal facts about events in the private lives of my family going back 31 years.
“it’s hard to discover words that adequately describe such low and despicable behaviour, disguised as journalism. I can’t conceive of anything immoral, unkind or unkind into the feelings and circumstances of my family.
“For more than three years, my entire family has worked hard to take care of the private trauma inevitably related to those incidents and has taken good care to keep confidential what were profoundly traumatic and personal events.
“On Saturday, The Sun delivered a’reporter’ to my parents’ home in New Zealand to query them, out of the blue, to this incredibly disturbing subject.
“If that wasn’t bad enough,” The Sun believe it is acceptable to sensationalise our private tragedy for their front page. To use my title as a excuse to shatter the privacy and personal lives of – specifically – my parents, is disgusting.
“I am aware that my people brings with it consequences for me personally that I accept completely. But I won’t permit my personal profile to be used as an excuse to invade the rights of family members, my spouse, my children or my parents.
“They are entitled to a private life of their own. The choice to print these details has lifelong and tomb consequences for my mum specifically.
“That is the lowest type of journalism, concentrated solely on pursuing sales with zero regard for the devastation caused by lives as a consequence.
“It is completely out of order. The post also contains inaccuracies which has compounded the harm. We will need to take a look at the way we allow our media to act.
“in spite of the fact that this has been made public, I do ask all concerned to honor my family’s privacy and right to dwelling life.”
The Sun has released the following announcement to Sky:”The Sun has the utmost sympathy for Ben Stokes and his mum . however, it is just correct to point out the story had been told with the co-operation of a relative who supplied details, provided photographs and posed for pictures.
“The catastrophe is also an issue of public record and has been the subject of extensive front page advertisements in New Zealand at the moment.
“The Sun has enormous respect for Ben Stokes and we’re thrilled to observe his sporting heroics this summer. He had been contacted prior to book and at no point did their agents ask us to not release the story.”
