Champion Stakes made to measure for Magical

Aidan OBrien sensations earth and 10 furlongs may prove perfect conditions for Magical in the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot.
The versatile filly is bidding having won the Mares & Fillies race – after which she went all guns blazing to Enable at the Breeders Cup.
Magical was busy this season and found Permit a difficult nut to crack more than one event – but cries at Irish Champion Stakes and the Tattersalls Gold Cup have seen her add to her Group One drag.
She finished fifth in this month Prix de lArc de Triomphe – in nine – that she has been out of the first two since the race this past year.
OBrien explained:Shes an amazing filly. Trips are run over by her – all ground comes equally for her, and she comes from her races.
Obviously she conducted from the Arc, which was not that long ago. But she seems to be in good shape, and were looking forward to running .
We believe on soft ground, 10 furlongs is probably her excursion. She should be quite comfortable at it on this ground anyhow.
Conducts I Can Fly – agonisingly beaten from the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes this past year, but using a win at Dundalk to show to her attempts since.
We think I Will Fly might prefer the ground, said OBrien.
Her very best run came this time this past year over a mile on soft earth, but shes form above a mile and a quarter also. She is in great form too.
Theres been plenty of cash to William Haggas Addeybb this week – but shifting to the internal hurdles track might well not be in favor of their mud-lover.
Haggas said:Were delighted the race is about and were thrilled to be participating in Obviously we hope it rains nonstop from now until the race!
Magical is a high-class filly, and hes got all on to beat her. Hes got a bit but hes a horse when the ground is soft.
Were going into the race fresh, but hell most likely have to be if hes going to win.
He has had a fantastic prep and he had a nice gallop at Newmarket a week, which will have profited him.
I would say hes a long-shot on shape, but if he gets his conditions he could come into it.
Deirdre was a surprise winner of the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood – and also to prove that was no fluke, she then seemed unlucky in the Irish Champion Stakes behind Magical.
Yoshitake Hashida, assistant trainer to Mitsuru Hashida, said:She seems in very good form. She came at all – so far, so great without any troubles.
She was unlucky at Leopardstown, also I feel that the most disappointed person was Oisin Murphy. It is a major day for Oisin, since he is going to be verified as the champion jockey – .
They have moved the race into the inside course, which is good. I think that is the reason weve opted to run on Champions Day, instead of going to the Breeders Cup or something like that.
We believe she is in much better condition than she had been at (Royal) Ascot – we think shes in top condition today.
We first met Magical at the Prince of Waless Stakes and acquired a bit closer to her at the Irish Champion. Whereas yet another race in France has conducted Weve had a great break since the Champion.
We would prefer faster earth, but I expect she could run a good race.
Having come so close in numerous Group Ones, John Gosdens Coronet appeared destined to not win one – but she struck her duck in her penultimate begin at the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, then followed up at the Prix Jean Romanet second time out.
Shell head after this to the paddocks – win, lose or draw.
We all waited all the time to get a Group One – and now shes won two! Said Richard Evans, that oversees owners of Coronet, Denford Stud.
Its more than we might have wished for – and this is her last run.
Were just imagining. She will not mind soft earth – she wouldnt need it too heavy, but shes fine on soft.
Clearly Mr Haggas horse (Addeybb) will adore the ground, and Magical is currently in there, but wed only be pleased to be in the framework – a triumph could be exceptional.
Were only a length behind the past year, and hopefully theyll be shut again, but that I believe Magical and Mr Haggas are the two to beat – and there may be some surprise packages.
A win would be excellent and a wonderful way to end her racing career. She will be new – Magical ran from the Arc, so it might come too soon, and she hasnt run since winning in France.
The good ones do not come along too often, and it was nice that the decision to remain in training was rewarded.
