Chiefs sign Harrison Butker to 5-year, $20M extension
On the day of minicamp, the Kansas City Chiefs made a move to secure their kicker of their long run, signing Harrison Butker into a contract extension, the team announced on Twitter.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported the deal soon after the announcement’s particulars: 5 years, approximately $20 million for the former seventh-round select, who posted a statement View picture on Twitter
Butker’s road to this moment at the same stage was not a sure bet while he’s now known to have one of the legs at the NFL.
In which he was picked up by the Chiefs after being drafted by the Carolina Panthers at 2017 and subsequently waived in favor of Graham Gano, Butker was signed into the team’s practice squad.
In his first match as a Chief throughout the 2017 season, Butker finished a 43-yard field goal try to lift the Chiefs over the Redskins 29-20.
To date, Butker, 25, has converted 62-of-69 career field goals, including going 24-of-27 in 2018, great enough for its 12th-best completion percentage (88.9) in the league.
